Dr.D.Y.Patil Dental College and Hospital,Pimpri,Pune has started the programme in the name of Study Circle. This activity of Study Circle is formed with the idea of promoting Scientific Activities and interaction amongst interns and postgraduate students.

The programme will be conducted once in two months with eminent faculty/Teachers delivering lectures for the academic interest of the students. We also invite presentation of existing cases from interns as well as postgraduate students. The first programme of this study circle will be held on 10th September 2010. This Study Circle will be currently managed by the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery under the chairman ship of
Dr.Deepak Kulkarni.

A five members delegation from the Govt. of Malaysia represented by the Public Services Dept. & Malaysian Dental Council visited our institution on 9th Mar 2009 to have recognition of Dr.D.Y.Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pimpri, Pune-18.

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (O.M.F.S.) was shifted of its new block on the 3rd floor on 10th Jan 2008 with the well equipped P.G. & U.G. section. In the auspicious presence of the Dean Dr. R. S. Dolas, Dr. Deepak Kulkarni (H.O.D.), Dr. Gondhali (Consultant), Mr. Arun Patil (Registrar), Dr. Ahay Dattarkar and other faculty member.

Department consists of separate under graduate & post graduate section with well equipped minor operation theatre, with spacious P. G. Room, Seminar Hall with capacity of 36 chairs & Modern teaching aids, Staff Room and Recovery Room.

7th Jan 2008:
Professor Dr Serge Szmukler-Moncler, DDS, PhD France in a special visit to Dr D. Y. Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pune presented a seminar on the most advanced instrument in the field of Surgery and Implantology - The Ultra sonic bone surgical device. Dr C.R. Naik, Chairman PG Studies and Dr R.G.Gondhali welcomed Dr Serge Szmukler-Moncler and introduced the institution and its facilities to him. Dr Serge was felicitated in the traditional way. Dr Vijay Deshmukh, Professor and Head of the Department of the Department of the Periodontics and Implantology, introduced the speaker and stressed on the importance of keeping abreast with the latest advances in the field of implantology to achieve more safe and predictable replacement of teeth. Dr Serge presented different surgical procedures like extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifts, bone splitting - all made simpler by the new device. He expressed hope that the new technique, currently being used only by a select few would be adopted by the majority of the surgeons so as to offer better surgical care to the patients. He was also highly appreciative of the infrastructure of the institution, the degree of dental health care provided and expressed his belief in the potential of this institution to be one of the leading dental establishments in the near future.

This is an unique opportunity for the participants as the shibir will be conducted personally by the holiness Parampoojya Sri Sri Ravishankarji.

His holiness Parampoojya Sri Sri Ravishankarji will be visiting at Dr.D.Y.Patil Dental College and Hospital, Pimpri,Pune on Friday 16th Nov.2007 at 9am.

Training program for the postgraduate students successfully completed.
17th and 18th October 2007.

The inguaration was held at council hall at 11.00am on 17th Oct 2007. The program started with introduction and welcome speech by Dr.R.S.Dolas, Dean of the college. The guest speaker was Dr.L.Nagesh Prof & Head of the Department Bapuji Dental College Davangere. The First & second year MDS students were benefited from the program.
The contents of the program were Introduction & Procedural Steps in conducting research, Problem Solving Session, Journal Club, Critical evaluation (mind's on)
Dr.L.Nageh has written a handbook on Journal Club and a ten Complimentary Copies were given to the college.

2nd Alumini meet was held on 9th Sep.2007 at Pancard Club Baner,Pune.Where new tenures were designated.The chief guest for the occasion was honourable Dr.Vivek Hegde.
The occasion was inougrated by a educational progrmae on "ADVANCE TECHNIQUE IN ENDONTICS" by Honourable Dr.Vivek Hegde.
Election were then conducted for the alumni association & following were the newly elected members.

A new Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery operating theater has been inaugurated by the hands of Hon'ble Dr.Gajanan Ekbote, Dean of faculty of Medicine, University of Pune on 22nd Oct.2007 in the auspicious presence of Hon'ble Dr.P.D.Patil Vice chancellor, Dr. D.Y.Patil University and Director & Trustee Dr.D.Y.Patil Pratisthan, Pimpri, Pune -18.

The operation theatre is a state of the art facility with all the latest equipment &
instruments.

This is a major step towards achieving our endeavor to provide optimum health care to the poor & needy masses.

Dr. D. Y. Patil Dental College & Hospital, Pimpri, Pune have recently been awarded the Grade A by NAAC, only the second dental college in India to have been awarded so. The grading is the result of excellent infrastructure & high academic standards.

Dr. Pankaj Chivte a P. G. Student from Department of Periodontics has been sponsored by 'Gieliesch' a Swiss company to attend the Osteology conference to be held at Monacco from 8-12 May 2007.

Similarly, Dr. Hiral Jhaveri, a P.G. student from Department of Periodontics has been sponsored to attend a international conference, arranged by American Academy of Periodontology from 27th to 30th October 2007 at U.S.
